BEIJING, March 7 -- On Tuesday, top leaders joined
NPC deputies and CPPCC members in panel discussions.
President Hu Jintao joined the discussion and
deliberation of the Hunam delegation on Tuesday afternoon.
After speeches from ten deputies, Hu stressed the
importance of rural construction. He said the central government should provide
more aid to agriculture and rural areas, speed up the modernization process of
agriculture and educate more people from rural regions.
Hu Jintao said China should follow a new path in its
industrialization. It should expand better industries, increase creativity and
innovation, strengthen efforts to protect the environment and increase energy
efficiency. He said the government will give priority to the issues that the
people are most concerned about.

Deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC),
China's top legislature, and members of the National Committee of the Chinese
People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top advisory body, are
here to attend the annual full sessions of the two organs.
