JAKARTA, March 7 (Xinhua) -- A passenger plane from
Indonesia's state airline Garuda crashed and exploded when it was landing in the
central Indonesian city of Yogyakarta on Wednesday, Antara news agency
reported.
The accident took place at 07:00 local time, and the
body of the plane caught fire while passengers were still in the plane, the
report said.
Fire fighters are trying to put out fire on the plane
of Indonesian national airline Garuda carrying 133 passengers.
Garuda's Operations Director Capt. Ari Sapari was
quoted as saying that authorities were trying to rescue passengers onboard the
Boeing 737-400.
Dozens of people were burned to death and many
injured people have been taken to hospital, according to a local leading website
"detik.com".
