Special Report: NPC, CPPCC Annual Sessions 2007

BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said here on Tuesday that China hopes to see Palestine and Israel achieve peaceful co-existence at an early date through negotiations based on the relevant UN resolutions and the principle of "Land for Peace".

"It is imperative for both Palestine and Israel to stay focus on the fundamental interests of people in this region and the large interests in maintaining regional peace and stability," Li Zhaoxing said at a press conference held on the sidelines of the ongoing annual full session of the Tenth National People's Congress, or the top legislature.

Li said the two sides should carry out political negotiations to resolve their disputes based on the relevant UN resolutions and the principle of "Land for Peace" so as to achieve peaceful co-existence at an early date between the two states and two peoples.
