China's draft property law in line with Constitution

    BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- A spokesman for China's parliamentary session on Sunday slashed the view that the draft property rights law, to be deliberated for approval at the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), goes against the Constitution, stressing the law should give equal protection to public and private properties.

China's defense budget to rise 17.8% in 2007 

    BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China's defense budget for 2007 is expected to hit 350.92 billion yuan (44.94 billion U.S. dollars), 17.8 percent higher than that last year, a spokesman for China's top legislature's annual session said here Sunday. 

Chen Liangyu will not attend coming NPC annual session 

    BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Former Shanghai Communist Party chief Chen Liangyu, who is under investigation for the Shanghai social security fund scandal, will not attend the annual meeting of the National People's Congress (NPC), a spokesman of the top legislature's annual session said here on Sunday.
