HANOI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is scheduled to receive an addition of
20 million doses of bird flu vaccines for fowls from China in mid-March, local
newspaper Vietnam Agriculture reported Wednesday.
The vaccines volume is part of 125 million doses that Vietnam is to import from the neighbor
country under a contract recently signed between a Vietnamese enterprise and its
Chinese partner.
Vietnam, which has imported 25 million doses of vaccines under the
contract, is expected to receive the rest by the end of March.
Bird flu reoccurred in Vietnam last December, hitting a total of eight southern
and one northern localities since then.
Bird flu outbreaks in Vietnam, starting in December 2003, have killed and
led to the forced culling of dozens of millions of fowls in the country, said
the department.
