Argentina's Juan Monaco wins first ever single's title

    BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Argentina's Juan Monaco, 22 and rated 66th world wide by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), won his first ever ATP title on Sunday, beating Italy's Alessio Di Mauro 6-1, 6-2 at the Copa Telmex.

    Monaco beat Di Mauro much faster than expected, in just over an hour, on the clay court of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club. After Sunday's victory becomes one of the world's top 50 players.

    "I feel an indescribable job," Monaco told reporters excitedly. "I fought hard to achieve this and luckily I won in Buenos Aires, with my people around me. It is a dream come true."

    The player is a good friend of Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, and a fan of Estudiantes de La Plata, current champion of the Argentine league.

    "I can truly feel satisfied now I have this title. I hope to goon and win great tournaments. I am loving what I am experiencing and this is what I love to do," he said.

    The doubles title went to local pair Martin Garcia and Sebastian Prieto, who beat Spanish pair Albert Montanes and Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo.

    The Copa Telmex shares out 465,000 U.S. dollars in prizes.
