BEIJING, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- The organizer of the
Internet-based TOEFL test has so far set up 48 test rooms in 26 Chinese cities,
said the Examination Center of the Chinese Ministry of Education here Saturday.
A total of 18 test rooms were newly added at the
beginning of this year. They are located in Chongqing, Harbin, Nanning,
Shijiazhuang, Jinan, Kunming, Lanzhou, Nanchang, Shenzhen, Xiamen,Changsha,
Taiyuan, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Qingdao and Urumqi.
All the newly-added test rooms will be put into use
by the end of March, which means TOEFL tests shall be available in almost all
the regional capitals in China by then.
TOEFL, standing for Test of English as Foreign
Language, was a must for students who wish to study in universities of the
United States.
It is estimated that 70,000 Chinese attend TOEFL each
year, accounting for 10 percent of the total examinees in the world.
