BEIJING, Feb. 15 -- Beijing Olympic organizers have unveiled their 2007 "Sports for All" plan. The promotion is aimed at giving people a chance to participate in a variety of sports events across the country.

Beijing organizers highlighted the importance of sports and the spirit of the Olympic Movement, saying they are making efforts to get more people involved in sports.

Xu Chuan, deputy director, "Sports for All", State Admin of sports, said, "We think one of the criteria for a successful Olympics is that the Olympic spirit and movement will further prevail across the host nation, even worldwide."

About 65 sporting events will be held across major cities in China this year. Traditional Chinese sports, like Taijiquan and dragon boat racing together with popular sports like badminton and table tennis will feature as part of this year's events.

Organizers say around 37 percent of Chinese people exercise regularly. With the Olympics getting closer, it's expected that more people will take part in sporting events.
