WASHINGTON,
Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George W. Bush said Wednesday that he is
confident that Iran is providing deadly bombs to Iraqi insurgents but admitted
he is unsure if top Iranian leaders played any role in doing so.
"What we do know is that the Quds Force was
instrumental in providing these deadly IEDs to networks inside of Iraq. We know
that. And we also know that the Quds Force is a part of the Iranian government.
That's a known," Bush said.
"What we don't know is whether or not the head
leaders of Iran ordered the Quds Force to do what they did," Bush said.
The Bush administration has accused Iran of providing
support to the Iraqi insurgents to fight against the U.S.-led multinational
troops in the country.
Bush touts new Iraq plan at first news
conference in 2007
WASHINGTON, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- At his first news
conference this year, U.S. President George W. Bush on Wednesday took on a
renewed effort to tout his new plan for Iraq.
Bush said his plan to secure Baghdad is proceeding as
expected,but it will "take time" and meet challenges.
U.S. firm in accusing Iran of arming
Iraq's insurgents
WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- The White House appeared
firm on Monday in accusing Iran of allegedly arming the insurgents in Iraq but
denied this is a prelude to attack Iran.
White House spokesman Tony Snow, when asked whether the
United States is confident in the accusations, said: "Yes."
