Special Report: President Hu visits 8 African nations

MAPUTO, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and Mozambican President Armando Emilio Guebuza met in Maputo Thursday to discuss further development of China-Mozambique relations.

During their talks, the two leaders are expected to exchange views on how to cement the traditional friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the southern African state.

The two sides are expected to sign a number of cooperation documents following the talks.

Hu arrived in the Mozambican capital of Maputo earlier in the day from South Africa for a state visit to Mozambique.

China and Mozambique have enjoyed sound development of bilateral ties since the two countries set up diplomatic relations in 1975. In recent years, the two countries have nurtured mutually beneficial cooperation in infrastructure construction, agriculture and other areas.

Hu is on the seventh leg of his eight-nation trip to Africa that has already taken him to Cameroon, Liberia, Sudan, Zambia, Namibia, and South Africa. He will also visit the Seychelles.
