BEIJING, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President
Zeng Qinghong Friday said it is important for provincial and ministerial heads
to study the Selected Works of Jiang Zemin.
The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee
started a seminar for the ministers on the Selected Works of Jiang Zemin on
Friday.
Zeng, a members of the Standing Committee of the
Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, vice Chinese president and
president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, said holding the
seminar shows the CPC Central Committee with Hu Jintao as the general secretary
attaches great importance to educating the cadres with the important thoughts of
"Three Represents".
The ideas in "Three Represents", initiated by former
Chinese President Jiang Zeming, say that the CPC must always represents the
development requirements of China's advanced social productive forces, the
progressive course of China's advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of
the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people.
Zeng urged the ministers to understand the
significance of the seminar and earnestly study the connotations of the Selected
Works of Jiang Zemin in the light of pursuing the scientific concept of
development, building a harmonious society and a well-off society in an
all-round way in China.
Zeng also asked them to study the works to create a
sound climate for the 17th CPC National Congress.
Members of the Standing Committee of the Political
Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Wu
Guanzheng, Li Changchun and Luo Gan also attended the opening ceremony, which
was chaired by Zeng Qinghong.
Li Changchun delivered a speech at the opening
ceremony.
Li said to study the Selected Works of Jiang Zemin is
a requirement to adhere to and develop Marxism, to continue synchronizing
Marxism and to use the development of Marxism as a guide.
Li said to study the works is a requirement to
scientifically track the domestic and international trend of development so as
to face various risks and challenges.
The "Three Represents" and other important strategies
put forward after the 16th CPC National Congress are theoretical guidance for
realizing the great cause of rejuvenating the Chinese nation, Li stressed.
Li urged the ministers to grasp the theme of
construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics and deepen their
understanding of socialism while studying the works.
Li demanded the ministers concentrate on study and
unify their thoughts on important judgments on domestic and international
situations made by the CPC Central Committee and on the key polices and
strategies made by the CPC Central Committee.
About 180 provincial and ministerial heads are
attending the seminar which will last for six days.
The Selected Works of Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese
President and General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, were released last
August. The three volumes comprise 203 of Jiang's reports, speeches, articles,
letters, inscriptions and decrees from August 1980 to September
2004.
