Japan claims 2nd Alpine skiing gold medal at Winter Asiad

    JILIN, Northeast China, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Japan bagged the second gold medal in Alpine skiing of the 6th Asian Winter Games as their veteran Yasuhiro Ikuta won the men's giant slalom at Beidahu, Jilin city on Thursday.

    Ikuta, 28, clocked in 2:09.24 to win the trophy, with Kang Min-Heuk and Kim Woo-Sung from South Korea finishing in the second and third places in 2:09.93 and 2:10.79 respectively.

    Emiko Kiyosawa stormed to the first Alpine skiing title for Japan in two minutes and 8.92 seconds in the women's giant slalom on Wednesday.
