CHANGCHUN, Northeast China, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Japan and South Korea both reaped
two wins Wednesday to book direct qualifications in the women's and men's
curling finals respectively at the 6th Asian Winter Games.
In women's competition, Japan crashed Kazakhstan 12-4 in the morning and
beat South Korea 6-5 in the afternoon in the double round robin qualifying
rounds.
China lost to South Korea 8-6 but whitewashed Kazakhstan 13-0.
South Korean and China ranked second and third in the standings while
Kazakhstan was eliminated.
For men's matches, South Korea beat China 8-6, and Japan, 8-5 to top the
rankings while Japan stand second after dismantling Kazakhstan 15-1. China was
third, beating Kazakhstan 11-1.
Japan and South Korea both book tickets in the finals as the second
and third finishers in each group will slug it out for another spot.
