Japanese Kiyosawa wins women's giant slalom gold at Winter Asiad

    JILIN, Northeast China, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Emiko Kiyosawa of Japan won the Alpine skiing women's giant slalom gold medal at the 6th Asian Winter Games at Beidahu, Jilin city on Wednesday.

    Kiyosawa, who finished 22nd in the event at the recently-concluded Winter Universiade in Italy, stormed to victory by clocking in two minutes and 8.92 seconds.

    Oh Jae-Eun and Kim Sun-Joo, both of South Koream took the silver and bronze medals in 2:09.64 and 2:11.8 respectively.

    "I started to feel a bit stress since yesterday, but I adjusted well to the best in today's match and I am happy with the result since Japan and Kazakhstan boast of many top skiers," said Oh.

    Chinese veteran Miao Liyan, 31, finished fourth while her teammate Dong Jinzhi settled for a fifth place in a field of 27athletes from 12 countries and regions.

    "Overall, I skied to my best, especially in the second run. I lost simply because my opponents are too good," Miao said.
