BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Argentine soccer team Velez Sarsfield will on Tuesday host Uruguay team Danubio, at their Buenos Aires ground, the debut match for new manager Ricardo La Volpe at Velez, in the two teams first phase Copa Libertadores match.
The match will begin at 7:15 p.m. local time (22:15 GMT) in the Jose Amalfitani Stadium with Brazil's Heber Lopes refereeing. The return match will be Feb. 6 in Montevideo. The winner will join Group Four in the second phase, which already includes Brazil team Internacional, Uruguay team Nacional and Ecuador team Emelec.
It is La Volpe's second Argentine team after managing the Mexico national team during the 2006 World Cup. He resigned after only three months at Boca Juniors, having lost the last games in the Opening Tournament.
Danubio, managed by Gustavo Matosas, is the current Uruguay league champion and will be missing Edison Cavani, a top goa lscorer in the recent South-American Under-20 Championship thattook place in Paraguay.
Velez won the Libertadores in 2004 under the management of Carlos Bianchi, and also won the Tokyo International Cup, beating Italian giants AC Milan.
