JAKARTA, Jan.29 (Xinhua) -- Eight people have died and nearly two thousand
others have been infected by dengue fever in Jakarta since January, head of the
city health department Salimar Salim said here on Monday.
Eastern part of Jakarta has been the most severely-hit territory, the head
of the department told reporters at the City Hall here.
It was necessary to impose a strict rule on the sanitation and cleanliness
of the environment to prevent the disease from spreading, he said.
One of the option was to impose a sanction for those
violate the rule, said Salim.
