BRAZILIA, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Argentine cyclist
Francisco Chamorro, 24, on Sunday won the Republic Cycling Cup, a 26.4-km race
held in a circuit in Brazil's capital, Brasilia.
Chamorro won the fifth edition of the race with a time of 34 minutes, one second and 21 hundredth, just ahead of
Brazilians Kleber dos Santos (34:01:42) and Fabiele dos Santos Mota (34:01:44).
Chamorro, who has been living in Brazil for five
years, told media that he is now seeking Brazilian citizenship and a place on
the national team.
The Cup attracted 15 Brazilian teams who are
preparing to compete in the next Pan-American Games, due in July 2007 in the
Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
