MOSCOW, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Two-time Grand Slam winner Marat Safin will lead the Russian team when they open the defence of their Davis Cup title against Chile in a first round World Group tie to be played on February 9-11.
Russia's team captain Shamil Tarpishchev also named Igor Andreev, Teimuraz Gabashvili and Yury Shchukin in the side with Dmitry Tursunov, who is still recovering from an injury, called inas a substitute.
Russia's captain said that he decided not to include Mikhail Youzhny and Nikolay Davydenko in his squad as they had already signed agreements to play in ATP tournaments in the second week of February.
