statuette, being manufactured for the 79th Academy Awards, on his work
bench at the R.S. Owens factory in Chicago January 18, 2007. The company
will manufacture 55-60 Oscars using a 15-step process. The finished
statuettes are made of a metal Britannia pewter alloy and are plated with
copper, nickel, silver and 24-carat gold. The factory has manufactured
these statuettes for the past 24 years, and will be presented during the
awards show in Hollywood February 25, 2007. (Xinhua/Reuters
