Jan. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- David Beckham will finish the remaining six months
of his contract at Real Madrid and can't go earlier for free, U.S. media
reported on Tuesday.
Media speculation has suggested the former England
captain might seek an early release from the remainder of his deal to join up
with his new club Los Angeles Galaxy, after coach Fabio Capello said he would
not play for Real again.
"Let me make one thing clear. There has been a lot of
talk recently that we would release him from his contract for nothing. We cannot
allow him to go for free," club sporting director Predrag Mijatovic said.
"Beckham still has six months of his contract left
and he has to complete them. Beyond that it is up to the coach (whether he plays
or not)," Mijatovic added.
Beckham has only played five league games under
Capello this season.
He has signed a five-year contract with Major
League Soccer side the Los Angeles Galaxy which could earn him around 250
million U.S. dollars.
