BAGHDAD, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. forces helicopter crashed northeast of Baghdad Saturday afternoon, killing all 13 people aboard, the military said in a statement.
Emergency Coalition Forces responded and secured the scene, according to the statement.
"Thirteen passengers and crewmembers were aboard the aircraft and all were killed," it added.
The names of the service members are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement said, saying that the incident is under investigation.
More than 3,040 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count.
