KABUL, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- A spokesman for Taliban has been arrested in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, Afghan intelligence agents said Tuesday.

    "Muhammad Hanif was detained in the border town of Torkham in Nangarhar province on Monday," Intelligence service spokesman Sayed Ansari said. Two others traveling with him were also arrested.

    Hanif has been speaking for Taliban since former Taliban spokesman Latifullah Hakimi was captured in October 2005.

    During the past year, he has been actively contacting journalists through e-mailing or satellite phone on behalf of the Taliban.
