JERUSALEM, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli Prime Minister's office denied Tuesday morning an earlier report that Israel and Syria has reached understandings for a peace agreement through a series of secret meetings.
Israeli daily Ha'aretz reported on its website earlier on Tuesday that Israel and Syria has reached understandings for a peace agreement through a series of secret meetings in Europe between September 2004 and July 2006.
But David Baker, an official in the prime minister's office, clarified to Xinhua that the Israeli government is unaware of such meetings.
