RAMALLAH, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said on Monday that there was no agreement on holding a meeting among Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and U.S. Secretary of Sate Condoleezza Rice.

However, Erekat told Xinhua that the Palestinian leadership "does not oppose such a meeting in principle."

Erekat made the denial hours after an Israeli media reported that Rice and Olmert agreed on Monday morning to holding a three-way meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas soon.

Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said earlier in the day on its website that Olmert and Rice agreed on bolstering moderate Abbas in addition to the three-way meeting.

It added that Olmert's and Abbas' offices will coordinate the future moves on this issue.

The U.S. top diplomat met Abbas in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Sunday during her tour to the Middle East which was seen as part of the U.S. fresh efforts to push for implementing the roadmap peace plan to revive stalled Mideast peace process.
