Special report: Iran Nuclear Crisis
WASHINGTON, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The United States on
Friday rejected the saying that it was preparing for military action against
Iran and Syria.
"I want to address kind of a rumor, an urban legend
that's going around," White House spokesman Tony Snow told reporters.
Snow said What U.S. President George W. Bush talked
about in his Wednesday speech on Iraq strategy is "defending American forces
within Iraq."
Snow insisted that the U.S. was still focusing on
diplomatic means against Iran over its nuclear program.
Announcing his revised Iraq strategy, Bush accused
Tehran and Damascus of allowing use of their territory for launching attacks
inside Iraq, and vowed to "interrupt the flow of support."
Washington, joined by other Western powers, accused Tehran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran denies the accusation, and vowed to defend its nuclear technology for civilian power generation.
