CEBU, Philippines, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Foreign ministers from 10 countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)held talked here Wednesday night on counter-terrorism, the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and other regional issues to be presented to leaders attending the 12th ASEAN Summit, Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo said.

They also discussed the Doha Development Round of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Romulo, who is also Chair of ASEAN Ministerial Meetings, told a press conference late Wednesday night.

As a result of the foreign ministers' discussion of the Convention on Counter-terrorism, Romulo said, Indonesia invited counter-terrorism agencies from six countries, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia to meet in Jakarta in March to discuss anti-terror issues within the region.

However, details of the arrangement for the counter-terrorism meeting in March was yet to be announced by Indonesia on Thursday, Romulo said.

"We have continued to pursue what we are pursuing in counter-terrorism and look at how to implement and carry out anti-terror operations in the region," Romulo told reporters.

Romulo also proposed at the foreign ministers meeting that a Track Two Six-party Talks might help to move discussions forward, citing a meeting, to be hosted by the Philippines next month, of Experts and Eminent Persons on Northeast Asian security.

On the Doha Development Round, Romulo told the ASEAN ministers that ASEAN should touch on the important and timely subject of world trade in the context of APEC, the WTO, and the Doha Development Round.

"The Philippines feels that APEC, ASEAN, and its dialogue mechanisms can help revive Doha," Romulo said.

"We all recognize the need for painful but necessary concessions and we issued a call for the talks to get back on track," he added.
