JAKARTA, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- A 14-year old Indonesian
boy who had been treated in a hospital for having avian influenza died on
Wednesday, bringing the death toll from the virus to 58 in the country,
according to Indonesian Health Ministry.
The boy was from West Jakarta and had been treated in
Rawamangun Hospital since last Friday, official of the Anti-Bird Flu center of
the ministry Rumizar Rusin said, adding that the boy died at 11:55 Wednesday
morning local time.
Rusin said that there were many ducks died around the
boy's house before and at the time when the boy got the symptoms of the disease.
A team from Agriculture Ministry has been deployed to
investigate the animal death, he said.
Indonesia, which has been hit by the virus, has
become one of the front lines in fighting against the H5N1 virus.
