Iraqi policeman killed in bomb attack in
Baghdad
BAGHDAD, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- An Iraqi policeman was killed
and two people were wounded when a roadside bomb went off near a police
patrol in eastern Baghdad on Monday, a well-informed source said.
The attack took place in the Ghadier area in Baghdad
al-Jadida neighborhood shortly before 10:00 a.m. (0700 GMT), the source told
Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The blast damaged a
police vehicle, killing a policeman a wounding another aboard, along with
wounding a civilian, the source said.
Earlier, the
police said that four cleaning workers of the Baghdad airport were killed and
nine others wounded when gunmen opened fire at their minibus in western
Baghdad.
The attacks came before an Iraqi court resume
the genocide trial of six of former Iraqi officials in Baghdad without their
codefendant Saddam Hussein who was hanged on Dec. 30, last year.
