BEIJING, Jan. 3 -- Kung-fu superstar Jackie Chan
is collaborating with Beijing Television to launch a competition in March,
aiming to find talented young actors to star in his movies.
The Beijing Star Daily reported 10 actors and
actresses will be selected for future kung-fu movies produced by Chan.
The competition has been described by the 52-year-old
star as an attempt to find a successor.
The names of finalists will be announced during the
National Day holiday in early October. They will receive professional training
in kung fu and acting before starring in Chan's films, the first of which he
hopes to premiere in 2008 and dedicate to the Beijing Olympics.
Chan has set up a company on the mainland to produce
10 films, according to a posting on his Web site.
"I just started a company in China and I will be
producing 10 films," Chan said.
