BANGKOK, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Thai security and
intelligence agencies could not establish the culprits behind the bomb attacks
in Bangkok on Sunday night, according to the web edition of local newspaper the
Nation.
The agencies held a meeting at the Internal Security Operations Command head office late Sunday night, trying to
find out who made the bombings, but failed to establish the culprits, the Nation
said.
Thai Government Spokesman Yongyuth Maiyalarp was
quoted as saying that the meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Surahyud
Chulanont and was participated by the chief of the National Intelligence Agency.
Yongyuth said the agencies needed more evidence to
analyze the information.
Hundreds of thousands of tourists and residents in
Bangkok Sunday night were bracing for New Year's Eve festivities to welcome the
year 2007 when a series of bomb attacks rocked the country's capital, killing
two persons and injuring some 40 others.
