A pyrotechnic display on the Sydney
Harbour Bridge in the shape of a coat hanger, the nickname given to the
bridge, glows during New Year's eve celebrations Dec. 31, 2006. The
celebrations, costing around 4 million Australian dollars and
including 3,000 kg of explosives and pyrotechnics, are called "A Diamond
Night in the Emerald City". The new year also marks the 75th anniversary
of the Harbour Bridge, with celebrations scheduled in March.
