    Chinese president, FM offer condolences on death of former U.S. president Ford

    BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Wednesday sent messages separately to U.S. President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, offering their condolences over the death of former U.S. president Gerald Ford, and also offering condolences to Ford's wife and other relatives.

    Ford, who battled pneumonia in January 2006 and underwent two heart treatments this year, died on Tuesday night aged 93.

    Former U.S. President Gerald Ford dies at 93

    LOS ANGELES, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Former U.S. President Gerald Ford died at age 93, said his widow on Tuesday.

    "My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Gerald Ford, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, has passed away at 93 years of age," said Bette Ford in a statement. Full story>>>
