BEIJING,
Dec. 23 -- Angelina Jolie almost declined to do the role that brought her and
boyfriend Brad Pitt together, because she wasn't impressed with her character in
Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
The Girl Interrupted star reportedly didn't like her
part much, and admits she had to be convinced to take the role by her agent.
"I didn't think it was something I should (do). I
didn't know what I was looking for, but it wasn't something that obviously spoke
to me," Tittletattle.com quoted her, as saying.
"I hadn't done comedy or that kind of action comedy
romance (and) I didn't think I was going to, but I had somebody who was close to
me, who read (the script) and said she thought it was great. I trusted the
opinion of some people around me who said, 'If you are ever going to do a
comedy, this is probably the best kind for you to get to do. This is fun," she
added.
According to the report, it was the prospect of being
able to shoot the film in Los Angeles and spend time quality time with her
mother, Marcheline Bertrand, that eventually persuaded Jolie to sign the deal.
