Special report: Ex-Russian spy
dies
BEIJING,
Dec. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- All nine British detectives who went to Moscow
to probe the death of former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko
have returned to the UK, media reported Wednesday.
Details of what the Scotland Yard investigators have
found are not available.
They were sent to Moscow two weeks ago to question
witnesses in connection with the death of Litvinenko, who died in London on
Nov. 23 from a lethal dose of polonium 210.
Earlier, Russian agency Interfax reported that the
investigators had interviewed six people including Dmitry Kovtun and Andrei
Lugovoy, who met Litvinenko at a hotel in London on Nov. 1, the day he fell ill
with radiation poisoning.
British and Russian investigators jointly questioned
Kovtun and Lugovoy, both of whom deny any role in Litvinenko's killing.
Last week, Lugovoi said in an interview that
Litvinenko might have been poisoned two weeks earlier than is generally assumed.
