QUITO, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadorian soccer player Franklin Salas, forward
for top Ecuador team Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, will train with
Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, joining his colleague Edison Mendez, PSV said in a
Tuesday statement.
The PSV statement described Salas as "a talented player who was left out of
the World Cup squad only because of a serious knee injury".
Salas, known as Mago (the magician) at home, told media in Holland "I dream
of staying here. It's the dream of all the players on my continent".
Salas also described training with PSV as a fantastic opportunity, even though
he said he was well aware that prolonging his stay on Dutch turf depends
solely on him.
He added that he had received a great welcome from Mendez and two
other South American players at the club: Peru's Jefferson Farfan and Brazil's
Alex.
