Urgent: Two bombs explode in Nigeria's oil-rich Niger Delta

    LAGOS, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Two car bombs exploded in oil-rich Niger Delta just after about one hour of warning by a Nigeria's militant group, according to news reaching here on Monday.

    An oil industry source was quoted as saying that one bomb blast hit an Italian oil company Agip Eni. Mi location and the other exploded in a Shell oil company's residential compound in Port Harcourt, capital of Nigeria's southern state of Rivers.

    So far, no casualty has been reported.

    In an e-mail to media, Jomo Gbomo, a self-described spokesman for the MEND, said "operatives of the Movement for the MEND successfully planted three car bombs in strategic locations around the Niger Delta," adding that these bombs "will be detonated any minute from now."
