GAZA, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian governing Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Friday accused senior Fatah leader Mohamed Dahlan of being responsible for the armed attack on Prime Minister Ismail Haneya's convoy Thursday night.
Unknown militants on Thursday night opened fire at Haneya's convoy as it was leaving Rafah crossing on the borders between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, killing one of Haneya's bodyguards and wounded his son and his political advisor.
The shooting attack on Haneya's convoy came after delaying Haneya's crossing into the Gaza Strip for several hours and prevented him from getting 35 million U.S. dollars with him into the strip. He has just ended his first regional tour after took office in March.
Riots and chaos dominated the crossing, where hundreds of Hamas militants stormed into the terminal's rooms, halls, yards and gardens to help Haneya crossing into the Gaza Strip. 15 Palestinians wounded.
Hamas spokesman Ismail Radwan read an official statement in a press conference held in Gaza on Friday, directly accusing Dahlan of being behind the shooting attack on Haneya's convoy.
"He (Dahlan) is a leader of a coupe and overthrow. He led a campaign of incitement against the government," said the statement. Hamas called on President Mahmoud Abbas to withdraw his forces from the Rafah Crossing and from the streets "because those forces failed to guarantee security for the residents, and opened fire at them."
Following Thursday's riots at the Rafah Crossing, Palestinian security sources said Friday that Israel had informed the Palestinian side that they can't operate again the crossing until a further notice.
