DOHA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- DPR Korea beat Japan 4-2 in
the penalty shoot-out after a scoreless regular and overtime to win the gold
medal of the women's soccer tournament at the Doha Asian Games here on
Wednesday.
During a balanced first half, DPR Korea focused on
attack and tried to score first but had few chances to shot on goal, while the
Japanese players also pressed hard but were vain in their scoring attempts.
DPR Korea almost broke the deadlock before the end of
the firsthalf with two powerful shots, which narrowly missed the target.
The second half went on smoothly with attacks from
both sides and neither of them had created any real chances until 11th minutes
into extra time when Japanese Ohno Shinobu found the net with her header, which
was ruled off-side.
DPR Korea went on to win the final 4-2 in penalty
shoot-out.
