DOHA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- China took the men's team sabre gold medal by
defeating South Korea 45-44 in a close final at the 15th Asian Games here on
Wednesday.
The final between Asia's two fencing rivals remained undecided until the
last bout between China's Wang Jingzhi and Oh Eun Seok of South Korea.
Wang, winner of the individual gold in Doha, sabred powerful enough to lead
44-41 before Oh's intensified offensives helped South Korea come to a 44-44 tie
with Wang.
But Wang was confident enough to hit his winning hit at a crucial second,
to the cheering of his team mates.
"My victory in the individual matches made me confident that I will win
today's game," said Wang, who said he valued the team title more than his
individual title.
So far, China has pocketed all four sabre golds at the Doha Asian
Games.
