Indonesia promise bigger bonuses for Doha medalists

    JAKARTA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs Adhyaksa Dault promised Rupiah 400 million (43,836 US dollars) cash bonuses for gold medallists at the Doha Asian Games, increasing Rp 250 million to earlier promising.

    "I have contacted the state minister for state enterprises and he is ready to provide the cash bonuses for medallists," Adhyaksa said Wednesday, adding that a state-owned Bank would provide the cash.

    Silver and bronze medallists will receives bonuses of Rp 200 million, from the originally promised Rp 50 million and Rp 30 million respectively.

    The minister also will stick to his plan to provide houses for medallists as part of his 100-house-for-athletes policy. Some of the houses will be given to medallists at next year's South-east Asian Games.
