MOSCOW, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev hailed the Year of Russia in China on Tuesday as a complete success.

    Speaking to foreign reporters in Moscow, Medvedev praised the event, which was launched in March, as being well organized and having achieved its goals.

    During the Year of Russia in China, more than 250 events have been held in trade, investment and cultural fields, highlighting the level and scope of cooperation between Russia and China, he said.

    "The bilateral exchanges in the framework of the Year of Russiain China were not confined to the capital cities but were extended to other regions in the two countries," Medvedev said. Many regions in Russia sent delegations to China, which helped the Chinese people better understand Russia, he said.

    Last year, Chinese and Russian leaders announced plans to hold the events aimed at boosting the strategic partnership between the two countries. Medvedev, who chairs the Russian committee of the events, had high expectations for the Year of China in Russia, which is to start next year.

    A host of activities have been planned and the program will soon be finalized, he said.
