DOHA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Grand Slam winners Zheng Jie and Yan Zi kept alive the hopes of landing the tennis women's doubles title for China as they held nerve to beat Japanese Ryoko Fuda/Tomoko Yonemura in the semifinals here at the Doha Asian Games on Tuesday.

    In an earlier women's doubles semifinal, second seeds and Olympic champions Li Ting/Sun Tiantian from China were upset by Chinese Taipei's Chan Yung Jan/Chuang Chia Jung 6-3, 6-2.

    "Of course there is pressure but I believe our rival will also feel the same pressure," said Yan Zi after the match, which the Chinese duo finished at 6-2, 6-2.

    "There is a lot of uncertainty in these games, so teamwork is very important and we work together a lot with our coaches and our teammates."

    While Zheng, who had to toil both in the singles and doubles, expected a tough doubles final on Wednesday.

    "Each team are from East Asia so we have similar styles and that makes it more difficult to win," Australian Open and Wimbledon winner Zheng said.

    "In today's match, the Japanese became more aggressive, so that is why it was difficult to win. As for tomorrow's match, we will try to battle for each point. Both teams feel pressure."
