Special report:Internal situation in Palestine

GAZA, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- A senior lawmaker from Palestinian governing Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Monday warned President Mahmoud Abbas against calling early elections, saying Abbas can't bear the consequences of such decision.

There is no one above the law and the president can not go beyond the authorities, Yahia Mussa, deputy chief of Hamas parliamentary bloc, told reporters.

Mussa made the remarks following recommendations by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) for Abbas to sack the Hamas-led government and call early election after Abbas' Fatah and the ruling Hamas failed to agree on forming a national unity government.

Mussa said "the offers to violate the law or coup against the government are tragic that the president or anyone else can not bear."

He, meanwhile, attacked the PLO executive committee, saying their members have no legitimate cover.

Hamas and the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) are not represented in the PLO.

In spite of embargo imposed by the West on the Hamas administration, the governing party considers early election as a coup against them, reiterating that Hamas won the legislative, or parliamentary elections in January this year.
