    CAPE CANAVERAL, the United States, Dec 7 (Xinhua) -- NASA postponed the launch of the space shuttle Discovery on Thursday night due to unfavorable weather conditions, said the launch control center.

    The decision was made minutes before a planned launch at 9:35 p.m. EST Thursday (0235 GMT on Friday).

    WASHINGTON, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The space shuttle Discovery launch countdown officially began at 11 p.m. EST Monday (0400 GMT on Tuesday), according to NASA TV.

    The countdown began on time at the T-43 hour mark. Included in the countdown are nearly 28 hours of built-in hold time prior to liftoff at 9:35 p.m. launch on Thursday (0235 GMT on Friday).

    WASHINGTON, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Space shuttle Discovery crew arrived Sunday at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where they'll begin final preparations for the night-time launch on Dec.7.

    The seven astronauts, flying T-38 trainer jets, touched down on the Shuttle Landing Facility at about 4 p.m. EST (2100 GMT), according to NASA TV.

    BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Saying the space shuttle's current external fuel tank "has proven more robust" than initially thought, NASA managers decided on Thursday to wait until 2008 for a redesign.

    After the Columbia disaster in 2003, caused by foam breaking lose from the external tank, engineers refined the process of applying insulating foam to the tanks.

 ¡¡ WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- NASA will launch the space shuttle Discovery on Dec. 7, the federal agency announced in an official statement on Wednesday.

    NASA senior managers have wrapped up a two-day flight readiness review at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
