NASA clears Discovery for re-entry

    WASHINGTON, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- NASA's space shuttle mission managers on Thursday cleared Discovery for re-entry, according to NASA TV. The mission control center told Discovery's Commander Mark Polansky that the decision came after analysis of data collected during Wednesday's inspection of Discovery's heat shield.

Discovery crew getting ready for Friday landing

    BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Discovery astronauts released two small experimental satellites Wednesday and scanned the shuttle's exterior looking for damage that could jeopardize their return to Earth on Friday, as NASA managers put their heads together to determine which of three landing sites to use.

Shuttle Discovery undocks from International Space Station 2006-12-20 06:35:38

    WASHINGTON, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Space Shuttle Discovery and the seven crewmembers bade farewell to the International Space Station's Expedition 14 crew at 5:10 p.m. EST (2210 GMT) Tuesday and began the journey back to Earth, according to NASA TV.
