DOHA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Liu Guoliang, head coach of Chinese men's table tennis team, had a sigh of relief as Ma Lin and Wang Hao set up an all-Chinese final after beating their rivals in the men's singles semifinals at the Asian Games on Wednesday.
"I'm so relieved," said Liu. "We sent two players to the men's singles and they both triumphed in the semifinals."
The 23-year-old Wang Hao won a rematch of the Athens Olympic final, beating South Korea's Ryu Seung Min 4-1. Minutes earlier, four-time World Cup winner Ma Lin made short work of old foe Li Ching of Hong Kong, China, also in five sets.
"I hope Wang Hao can play Thursday's final with confidence and courage, and I also hope Ma Lin can prove himself as one of the best male paddlers," said Liu.
Wang Hao said he had kept both relaxed and concentrated during the match.
"I didn't feel the pressure as I did in the men's team event. A good attitude set me free to play my game," said the Olympic runner-up to Ryu.
Coach Liu, who raised his thumbs for Wang, said: "Wang has been more confident than in the Athens Games. He beat off an excellent performance from Ryu and showed that he's getting more mature, both mentally and tactically."
Ryu admitted the defeat, saying "Wang's tactics is very efficient."
