DOHA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's Yang Wei took his fourth gold medal by sharing the parallel bars title with South Korean Kim Dae Eun at the Doha Asian Games on Wednesday.
World champion Yang Wei went to the final as top qualifier. He performed the routine of 6.7 in A score, the highest difficulty among the finalists, to take in 16.300 points, leveling Kim Dae Eun.
A little step on dismount cost Yang the opportunity as the sole top podium finisher. Kim carried out a superb and flawless action of 6.6 difficulty to win South Korea the second gold at Asiad gymnastics.
"It's finally over," said Yang with a sigh. "Now I just want to have a good sleep. A holiday is even better."
"Japan achieved very good results at Athens Olympics, so we set them as our target to beat.
"We are the 2000 Sydney Olympics team champions, so we trained very hard, aiming to win the team title back after our loss in 2004," added Yang.
"Sometimes you win, and sometimes they win. That's competition."
Kim was very satisfied with the shared title.
"I made a satisfactory movement on bars," told Kim. "I tried mybest and the result went to the best."
Shun Kuwahara of Japan was third on 16.075 as the starter of the apparatus. Kuwahara qualified in second place.
Yang has won three gold medals at the Games already before the bars' final and now tied "prince of gymnastics" Li Ning's eight golds as the most prolific male gymnast in Asian Games history.
Yang qualified the final with 16.250 points, only 0.100 ahead of Shun Kuwahara of Japan. He improved his score to 16.300 during the all-around final and continued the trend at the apparatus final.
