DOHA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese sharpshooters broke the Asian record of the men's double trap team event at the 15th Asian Games here on Tuesday.

World Championships runner-up Hu Binyuan, finalist Wang Nan and debutant Liu Anlong combined for a total of 424 hits out of a possible 450 targets, toppling the previous Asian record by six hits and secured the title for China.

"They did a great job today," said Sun Shengwei, head coach of the Chinese shotgun team. "Liu's performance was totally out of expectation."

Liu, who was in his international debut, collected 137 hits and made the individual final round.

"He never shot such a score in the training sessions after we arrived," said Sun. "He really gave us a big surprise."

India finished second with a total of 409 hits while Chinese Taipei took the bronze medal with 397 hits.
