DOHA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- As China tumbled their way to win the women's team final at Aspire Stadium in Doha on Sunday, one of the country's former gymnastic champions cheered from the stands.

Yang Yun, a member of the Olympic team bronze medalists in Sydney in 2000, was impressed with China's efforts against DPR Korea and Japan, and believes China are the team to beat at the Asian Games.

"China is the best," said Yang. "It proves that the gold medal we won in Denmark at the world championships was not a fluke."

Yang, who never competed at an Asian Games, was member of the national team when Cheng Fei was a rising star and admired her former teammate's efforts on the vault in Sunday's competition.

"Cheng Fei is really in good condition. She does not always use her signature jump, but we have seen it," said Yang, referring to the vault named after Cheng at the 2005 gymnastics worlds in Melbourne. "That shows she is becoming more and more fluent in this move."

Yang observed gymnasts from DPR Korea attempting the vault during qualification, saying that they could not match Cheng's form.

"Although they finished the jump, the score was lower than Cheng Fei's. She is quite fluent in this jump, no one can be better than her in this jump," said Yang.

Yang believes while the uneven bars was disappointing for the Chinese team during qualification, in which Pang Panpan fell on her dismount, it is not fatal for the team.

"It is not so good this time, but it was still Ok," said Yang.

Yang is the girlfriend of triple world champion Yang Wei, who won a gold medal with men's team on Saturday. She is at the Asian Games to work as a commentator but insists she does not add pressure on Yang by predicting more gold medals for him.

"I don't want to set a high goal for him. I hope he can perform as what he did in qualification. According to his performance during qualification, to win more gold medals is not so difficult," said Yang.

Yang will battle rival Hiroyuki Tomita of Japan for the men's all-around title on Monday, with Yang Yun no doubt to watch from the stands.
