DOHA, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- An Indian woman working as a volunteer for the Doha Asian Games was killed in a traffic accident Sunday night, the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOC) confirmed on Monday.
DAGOC spokesman Ahmed Abdulla Al-Khulaifi refused to give the name of the volunteer, only saying she was aged 60 and lived in Qatar.
"The lady was crossing the road in front of the Hamad Hospital when the accident happened on Sunday," Ahmed Abdulla told a daily press briefing.
She had been working as a volunteer at the Aspire Dome, the largest indoor sports arena in the world, which is hosting boxing, badminton, gymnastics and track cycling events.
"There will be a minute's silence at the Aspire venue before events are held today as a mark of respect," said Ahmed Abdulla.
